FRANKLIN, Tenn. — In its next two decades, the Heritage Church of Christ should strive to be “a living translation of the life of Jesus Christ,” said guest preacher Mark McInteer during the congregation’s 20th anniversary service.

“Honoring our Heritage for Generations to Come” was the day’s theme, said minister Chad Hedgepath. The church, launched in the home of members Dwight and Sherry Stacey, has grown to about 200 members — despite losses due to age and the COVID- 19 pandemic.

The church focused on its next generation with a mid-service story time for kids, after which Hedgepath gave children’s Bibles to the youngest attendees. Later, Jimmy Dyer, one of the church’s five elders, led a time of remembrance for the 106 Heritage members who died in the past 20 years.

McInteer, a longtime minister, thanked church members for the kindness they showed his father, Jim Bill McInteer. The elder McInteer — also a renowned preacher and former president of 21st Century Christian — preached for Heritage on Sunday nights until just before his death in 2010.
