CROSSVILLE — The Crossville Church of Christ celebrated its 100th anniversary recently.
The Crossville church began as a house church in 1923 when two families in the area began meeting in their homes. By 1924, the Crossville church exceeded 30 members and began renting a space on the second floor of the Potter Building on North Main Street.
Today the congregation worships in its auditorium built with native Crab Orchard stone and completed in 1986.
MORGANTOWN — Members of the Morgantown Church of Christ are helping their neighbors through the We Are The Sermon Sunday program, when the church takes communion and then goes out into the community to serve.
Armed with paintbrushes, carpentry tools and work gloves, the congregation is partnering with The Human-Animal Bond, a nonprofit that is working with West Virginia University to renovate a farmhouse for teenagers aging out of state wardship as they enter college.
“I love that we’re able to come together to work on this,” Brad Schrum, minister for the Morgantown church, told WBOY 12 News. “We have people from all different backgrounds, all different skill levels, and we got some folks who really know what they’re doing.”
