Voices only: ‘In Christ Alone’

This song is filled with the aroma of Christ. He is the true hope. We can’t find true hope and love anywhere else.

Here’s “In Christ Alone,” written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, performed by BYU Vocal Point, an a cappella male group founded by two students at Brigham Young University in Utah.

This song not only describes the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior, but also intones and exalts who God is, his essence and the deep meaning of the person of Christ in our lives. This song is filled with the aroma of Christ. He is the true hope. We can’t find true hope and love anywhere else. He is the light who leads to eternal life and salvation. He is the stronghold of our lives. His peace transcends all understanding. He is the source of all comfort. The love of Christ is the rock on which I stand.

Jesus Christ died for you and me. “Surely he took up our pain and bore our sufferings,” we read in Isaiah 53:4, so that through his death we may live. He brought us priceless peace by being punished in our place, and “by his wounds we are healed.” This is a tremendous gesture of love, and when we truly encounter Jesus there is no other place that we want to be except at the feet of our Savior, Lord Jesus Christ. He freed us from sin. He gave us hope by rising again. He defeated the enemy and now “he stands in victory”.

There’s no other place I’d rather be besides in the presence of the Lord, praising him, glorifying him and recognizing that he is the truth, the way and the life! Let’s praise the Lord with all of our hearts and souls, giving thanks for all that he has done for us!
